The research arm of EESI Contracting is known as "The Centre for Contaminant Geosciences." The Centre was established to undertake research to further understand contaminant geosciences.

We are proud of the research and development we conduct, as well as the practical application of this research and the dissemination of the information resulting from our work.

As well as its work with EESI, The Centre provides technical and financial support to honour students at a number of Australian Universities. It also runs training courses in conjunction with universities or other educational bodies.

The research conducted by The Centre, together with Environmental Earth Sciences, has included: -

  • Phytoremediation of groundwater in Victoria
  • Phytoremediation of mine water in Queensland
  • Chemical stabilisation of heavy metal contaminants
  • Bioremediation of PAH (in particular, gas works waste)
  • Ongoing studies into the breakdown of DDT

Phil Mulvey is the Principal Scientist at The Centre for Contaminant Geosciences and he lectures at a number of Universities throughout Australia. He also directs the research conducted at The Centre. Chris Conoley is The Centre's Research Officer, co-ordinating technical bench top trials for the Centre's projects. Please contact Chris with any queries in our Sydney office.
